Café on Corporation reopened this week, but with reduced hours and a significant drop in patronage.
Project manager Carol Smith said that the period the café was closed was difficult for everyone, particularly those with disabilities.
"Having it closed really displaced a lot of the disability support guys. We reopened in lockdown on Monday and we're at about 50 per cent patronage," she said.
"Whilst it's pretty quiet, at least we've been able to be available for takeaway for the community out at the Bathurst Trade Centre that have been supporting us through the two years we've been open.
"... It's also providing an opportunity for the work placement and the guys with disabilities. It gives them a little bit more structure in their day and to be able to go to work, and to service their community is really important to them."
Reopening has enabled five of these workers to return, but there are others who have not been able to come back as there is not enough work available.
The café is open from 7am to 2pm Monday to Thursday, but it is hoped that it will soon open on Fridays.
"I'm looking to see if I can extend that to a full week, to Fridays," Ms Smith said.
"If there's anyone out there who is on a NDIS plan that's looking for some work placement opportunities for one-on-one service and they want to work in hospitality, they can make inquiries to the café, because I've probably got a couple of opportunities for them and that would maybe see us open on a Friday to be able to service our community out there at the Bathurst Trade Centre."

Ms Smith thanked the people who have continued to visit the café.
Those who would like to support the café can ring in orders on 5355 0346.
"And if you're looking for a coffee on the run, drop by 9 Corporation Avenue. I'm sure there's someone with a smiley face ready to take your order," Ms Smith said.
