Chifley/Lithgow Team operational officer Brett Taylor said a notified pile burn on a property on White Rock Road turned into a small grass fire due to the windy conditions.
The fire was able to be contained by mid afternoon Saturday.
Coincidently, the fire occurred on day one of the traditional RFS Get Ready weekend.
The RFS says the main tasks ahead of the fire season are to discuss what to do if a bushfire threatens your home; prepare your home and get it ready for the bushfire season; know the bushfire alert levels; and to have all the bushfire information numbers and websites handy.
Grass fires are a particular risk this season, according to the RFS, because of the recent rain.
Visit the RFS website for information about how to prepare for the fire season.
