REPORTS that an inmate at Bathurst Correctional Centre returned a positive result to COVID-19 on Sunday remain unconfirmed by Justice Health.

The Western Advocate understands it was a day-12 result for the inmate.
It was initially thought the inmate was taken to Bathurst Base Hospital for treatment, but a spokesperson for Justice Health said it was not aware of any transfers from Bathurst Correctional Centre to Bathurst Base Hospital on Sunday night.

Justice Health also did not comment on a report a further two staff from the jail returned positive tests to the virus late last week.
While not commenting on the cases, a spokesperson for Corrective Services said: "The safety of all staff and inmates is our number one priority, and remains at the forefront of our decision-making while COVID-19 continues to pose a risk. We continue to follow the expert advice of NSW Health and Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network in our decision-making processes."
