PETER Trevor-Jones' smart mare Misdemeanor is coming into this Wednesday night's Bathurst Paceway meeting with a win to her name but it's going to take something special to make it two in a row.

Even though Trevor-Jones' runner is taking on the same grade of race this time around, she's running into a quality field in the feature event of the night - the NSW Standardbred Owners Association Pace (1,730 metres).
When comparing the difference between this Wednesday night's field and the one from three weeks ago that Misdemeanor was victorious against Trevor-Jones said the upcoming one would certainly be a challenge.
"That would be an understatement," he said.
"I'm frustrated because she just came out of a fantastic three-year-old season but because she had such a great season she's found herself in the deep end.
"I can't place her suitable races. She's been getting terrible draws and keeps running into red hot fields, so it can get pretty damn depressing.
"She's such a good mare but with the way the system works - and with COVID probably limiting the pool size of horses - it's been difficult for her. It would be ideal to race her in mares races but she's really in the deep end right now."
Trevor-Jones said while it's not an option he's thrilled to pursue he may have to look at racing his mare elsewhere to get the most out of her.
"I'm really happy with her. I got a win with her last start. I got her back to a good grade with the mares concession and got a nice run through, even though it looked like a bad draw in barrier 10. You'd take that over barrier seven every time though," he said.
"I've actually made phone calls to Queensland about her. I've got a beautiful mare but she's struggling, and up there they have mares races every Saturday night.
"I'm finding it hard to let her go though because I breed and own horses with my friends from Forbes and that's why we do it - to do it ourselves. When you send them away it feels like we defeat the purpose for why we're in the game.
"I might have my hand forced ... but it could all work out for her on Wednesday night, who knows?"
