The ongoing COVID-19 lockdown in a number of states has forced Supercars to alter its calendar more than once this season, but on Wednesday it was confirmed that this year's Bathurst 1000 will be a six-day event running November 30 to December 5.
It will be the first time in the history of the 161-lap endurance epic at Mount Panorama it has been contested in December.
As was the case in 2020, it will once again be the season finale.
Walkinshaw star Chaz Mostert, who placed third in last year's Great Race, said the event is "going to be unique again."
"Tough times, we've got to obviously change the schedule and keep the racing happening," Mostert told Supercars Sessions.
"It will be a bit weird for us, I mean we're always used to driving in October, so having this edition in December will be a little bit weird for us.
"The biggest race of the year, also the finale, there's a lot to play for."
After seven rounds of the current season, which opened with the Bathurst 500, Mostert sits fourth in the championship.
He's won two races so far this season and will no doubt be hungry to finish his campaign by claiming the Peter Brock Trophy at the Mount.

As for Brad Jones Racing's Macauley Jones, chasing a championship won't be part of the equation when he arrives at the Mount after a tough season to date.
But he is still excited at the prospect of finishing on a high note in the biggest race of the year.
"I'm just pretty keen to get racing and I think it's always pretty cool to finish at Bathurst," he said.
"It's such a big hype for that race meeting that it's a good send off for the 2021 season and I'm probably the only driver actually in New South Wales, so it's not so bad for me.
"It's pretty cool and I'm pretty damn excited that it's all sort of locked in and going to be happening."
