POLICE are appealing for public assistance after they say several firearms and chainsaws were stolen during a break-in at a rural property west of Bathurst.

Police say entry was forced on to a property on Forest Reefs Road, Forest Reefs, 54 kilometres from Bathurst, between 6pm last Thursday, September 16 and 7am last Friday, September 17.
Two chainsaws, two rifles, a pump action shotgun, a single barrel shotgun and ammunition are believed to have been stolen.

Officers from Chifley Police District attended the property and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined by specialist officers.
As inquires continue, police are urging anyone who might have witnessed the incident - or who has dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area - to contact Bathurst Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
