Cowra had already felt the force of the southwesterly change: it went from just over 20 degrees at 1pm to 13 degrees at 3pm and 11 degrees at 4pm.
Young, meanwhile, went from 17 degrees to nine degrees over the course of the early afternoon.

The coming of the cold front is the end of a run of four days of 16 degrees or over for Bathurst, including a maximum of a tick under 20 degrees last Friday.
After an 11 degree day on Tuesday - five degrees below the long-term September average for the city - Bathurst is set to return to pleasant spring temperatures for the rest of the working week and the weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology says snow is likely on the Central Tablelands above 1000 metres tonight, and above 700 metres on Tuesday.
