The Bureau of Meteorology says snow is likely on the Central Tablelands above 1000 metres tonight, and above 700 metres on Tuesday.
In a traffic alert put out early Monday evening, Transport for NSW says motorists are advised to prepare for changed traffic conditions across the region.
It says motorists are advised to delay travel unless necessary and check the road conditions before travelling.
"While some closures may be necessary for the safety of motorists and workers, Transport for NSW will endeavour to maintain access along all major corridors within affected areas," the traffic alert said.
"Snow and black ice create additional road hazards and motorists should reduce their speed, limit braking, use daytime driving lights and keep an increased distance between cars in front.
"Snow-clearing equipment is stationed at key locations and staff in the field will continually monitor traffic conditions.
"Transport for NSW crews are carrying out salt spreading to reduce the likelihood of black ice forming.
"Portable and permanent signs will also be used to provide motorists with real-time traffic information."
