The NSW Government recently announced that outdoor swimming pools can reopen on September 27 as long as the operators have a COVID safety plan approved by NSW Health.

However, Bathurst Regional Council said the outdoor pool at the aquatic centre won't open anytime soon.
"Council's pool mangers, Belgravia Leisure, have been reviewing the recent announcement by the NSW Government in respect to the easing of restrictions for public pools across NSW on September 27, 2021. From this date outdoor public swimming pools will be able to open to the public," general manager David Sherley said.
"Belgravia Leisure are continuing to liaise with council about their plans for the facility but at this stage they have indicated the outdoor pool will not be opened to the public on September 27. The centre is an indoor public swimming complex, with one outdoor 50m pool, however it requires the indoor facility to be in full operation for it to be successfully utilised."
He said that Belgravia has advised it will work towards a full re-opening of the complex when it is allowable.
Although outdoor pools can open from Monday, the one at the local aquatic centre is traditionally closed at this time of year, usually opening around the public holiday weekend in October.
"Even in October, the majority of swimming activities undertaken by patrons are within the indoor pools due to Bathurst's cool climate at this time of year," Mr Sherley said.
