Launching last Friday, the Meal 4 Good program will see every order purchased from selected Menulog restaurant partners on the last Friday of every month price matched by the delivery service and donated to OzHarvest, Australia's leading food rescue organisation.

El Guapo co-owner Damian Kay said OzHarvest is passionate about rescuing and repurposing food to feed less fortunate members of society; a passion the local Mexican restaurant franchise is committed to assisting.

"This initiative resonates with Laura [Jacob, co-owner] and I because every meal ordered on that last Friday of the month is also feeding someone who may not be able to access a ready-made meal," Mr Kay said.

"While our takeaway trade hasn't been quite the same as it was during last year's lockdown, we're still getting by, and Fridays are generally pretty good for us, as everyone's looking for a good meal to wind down the week with."

OzHarvest is working hard to provide fresh and nutritious food to vulnerable communities across the country, currently supporting around 478,000 people every month, with COVID-19 having exponentially increased demand for the service.

Mr Kay said El Guapo is currently operating at limited hours due to the lockdown, which he's excited to see lift in the coming weeks.

"We're planning a return to normal trading hours by Wednesday, October 13, and we're naturally excited," he said.
