While The World Waits is a compilation album of 15 original tracks by musicians from the Central West.
In response to the impacts of COVID-19 on the local music industry, Arts OutWest commissioned 15 songwriters across 11 local government areas in the region to each write a song reflecting their experiences of 2020.
"The album is a professionally produced, beautiful sound-capsule of this time in our lives," Arts OutWest executive director Tracey Callinan said.
"We now invite visual artists to respond to the same themes, taking their cues from the music."
It is open to all emerging and established artists.
While The World Waits Exhibition is a curated program in which 15 artists each respond to one of the tracks on the CD.
Artists will have three months to produce work.
The first exhibition will launch in February 2022 (venue TBC) and will travel to multiple locations across the region.
Arts OutWest is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from visual artists living and working across the local government areas of Bathurst Region, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western Regional, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin.
Applications are encouraged from artists working with moving image to drawing and everything in between.
Tell us a little about your art practice. Show us who you are and what you do.
Selected artists will receive a payment of $500 to assist with materials and/or production costs.
Artists can listen to a Spotify sampler playlist for While The World Waits via the link on artsoutwest.org.au.
Applications are due Friday, October 15, 2021.
