But while a return to business will be an obvious relief for hairdressing businesses, it will also be an opportunity for hairdressers to reconnect with their dedicated clients on a social level, with friendly conversations often part of the parcel with hair appointments.
Uppercut and Co Barbers owner Tina Grando said she's missed her regulars dearly, and looks forward to hear about their lockdown experiences.
"I've missed my clients more than anything, and I can't wait to hear about what they've been doing with their downtime," Ms Grando said.
"Reopening for business will be great, of course, but I feel the real joy of the post-lockdown period will be those reconnections with friends and family, which always go beyond the business side of things."
Hairdressers have been cleared to reopen from Monday, October 11 for the fully vaccinated within the four square metre rule, with an initial cap of five clients per premises.
But while she's looking forward to reopening, Ms Grando, who has been a hairdresser for 37 years, said the lockdown period was actually a great opportunity to step back and recharge.
"When you work in any job full-time, you tend to try and squeeze everything else in, but this lockdown gave me more freedom to do the gardening or ring a friend; there's more facets to a person than work," she said.
With full vaccination status expected to be a necessity to visit business for extended periods initially, Ms Grando said she doesn't expect it to be an issue with her business.
"Most people booking at the moment are fully vaccinated, and the ones that aren't have had their first jab and are due for their second soon," she said.
"We all have a right to choose, and the more people vaccinated in the community will only provide greater protection for those who aren't."
