If we are going to discuss revitalising Bathurst's CBD (and we do need to) we need to keep it relevant.
Comparing Bathurst to major international cities that have multi-million populations and serviced by rail subways and light rail/trams every five minutes is simply not appropriate.
Nor do our suburbs have multi-storey shopping complexes (and a good thing too!) that allows traditional city CBD's to be havens for tourist recreation.
In Central West NSW, that is simply not going to work - our CBD needs to remain accessible and viable as a business centre.
But, moreso, who is on whose ticket?
It is well known that Cr Fry was not going to stand for a second term and Cathie Hale was going to lead a group. Then with Ms Hale announcing she was withdrawing Cr Fry changed his mind.
But the Advocate has it right; according to the NSW Electoral Commission Jim Blackwood is still registered to a team led by Cathie Hale - not withstanding a press release a week or so ago by Cr Fry emphasising that he is "leading an entirely new ticket from Cathie Hale's previous one" that includes both Cathie Hale and Jim Blackwood.
He stated: "So, this is effectively a new ticket with some of the existing people on it. This is a new group, even though it looks like the old one. Obviously, myself and Sally ... on the ticket are new". Huh?
