FORMER Bathurst man Dom Bennett is being mourned in his home town and his adopted community in the state's Northern Rivers.

Mr Bennett died recently at the age of 52.
He was born in Bathurst and began his nursing training in the city, where he met Rachel, the woman who would become his wife, when she enrolled in the same course.
The pair travelled around Australia after graduating before returning to Bathurst.
Later, they moved to Mrs Bennett's home area in the Northern Rivers.

Mr Bennett worked at Lismore Hospital before starting at Maclean Hospital, between Grafton and Ballina.
He was the hospital's after-hours manager for 17 years.
Mrs Bennett told Grafton's Daily Examiner that she had been overwhelmed by the kind words and tributes from the community and said it reflected her husband's standing.
"He was an amazing man who touched the hearts of so many people," she said.
The Daily Examiner said a Maclean Hospital spokesman paid tribute to Mr Bennett's knowledge, leadership and mentorship.
Mr and Mrs Bennett had three children, Caleb, Hamish and Molly.
