The Bathurst Remembers World War Two Exhibition was originally scheduled for August this year to mark the anniversary of VJ Day and end of the war but had to be postponed due to COVID.
The exhibition is being organised by the Bathurst District Historical Society and curated by Alan McRae, a local historian and vice president of the society.
It will now be held from February 25-28 with an enormous amount of material - including military vehicles, uniforms and thousands of photographs - set to go on display.
Mr McRae says the Bathurst Remembers World War Two Exhibition has been designed to be educational as well as remembering Bathurst and district servicemen and women by displaying around 2000 images lent by more than 200 families and individuals.
It will be open to the public as well as local and district school children from 9am-5pm each day with exhibits to fill four pavilions at the showground.
"The exhibition will boast the Snapshots of World War Two - over 600 enlarged photos of soldiers in action, military training, action on the battlefields, airmen, those on the home front, Bathurst Army Camp and much more," Mr McRae said.
"A special Wall of Valour will feature some 130 enlarged photos of World War Two servicemen and women who have an association with Bathurst who enlisted and served in the global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945.
"The war involved the vast majority of the world's countries. There will be some 3000 military items from the Allies and the Axis powers as well as World War Two memorabilia and uniforms displayed by more than 30 guest exhibitors.
"A simulated tropical army theatrette showing wartime newsreels will be set up at the Bathurst Showground on Sydney Road."
Mr McRae said there would be other activities and functions organised by the Bathurst RSL Sub Branch and other groups over the four days.
"Several speakers associated with the War Memorial in Canberra and the Australian Army History Unit will give a talk on the Saturday," he said.
Mr McRae said 35 World War Two military vehicles are booked in to be displayed over various days, including a German half-track, American and British trucks, motorbikes and bicycles from the Cycle Corps.
The exhibition is being supported by Bathurst District Historical Society, Bathurst Regional Council, Bathurst RSL Sub Branch, Department of Veterans' Affairs and the Bathurst Showground Land Manager.
