The latest vaccination rates for the country were released late Monday and reported that 91.8 per cent of people in Bathurst aged 15 years and over had received their first shot as of October 10.
That was a 1.9 per cent rise from the previous week, and the double-dosed rate climbed even further.
As of October 10, 74.8 per cent had received their second dose of vaccine and are considered fully vaccinated, that figure up 7.3 per cent.
Western NSW Local Health District chief executive Scott McLachlan praised the entire region for its high vaccination rates.
"We're incredibly blessed with one of the highest vaccination rates across the whole of the state, if not the country, thanks to everyone's commitment to getting vaccinated," he said.
People who have been doubled vaccinated are able to access a raft of new freedoms, which became available on Monday.
Mr McLachlan stressed the importance of people coming forward for their first and second shots, which will not only allow them to access those freedoms, but will increase the level of protection in the community.
"We know we are going to be living with COVID in our communities for quite some months and potentially years into the future. Vaccination is going to be so crucial to protecting us, our loved ones and all of our communities," he said.
To make it easier for people to get vaccinated, the WNSWLHD is opening up its vaccination hub at Charles Sturt University (CSU) to walk-ins.
The hub, which is located in Building 1286 on Panorama Avenue, has only been vaccinating people who have booked in advance, but now that is no longer a requirement.
It is open between 9am and 5pm seven days a week.
Vaccines are also available at multiple GP clinics and pharmacies across Bathurst.
People can make a booking online by visiting this website.
Testing is also encouraged as the state opens up, to ensure any cases of COVID-19 are detected quickly and isolated from the rest of the community.
As of Tuesday, there were 16 active cases of COVID-19 in the Bathurst local government area.
Eleven people in the WNSWLHD are being treated in hospital, one of which is in Bathurst, while the vast majority of cases are being cared for in the community.
