Aimed at parents and carers of preschool-aged children and school starters, the talk will be held on Friday, November 12 at 11am.
It will include a special storytime featuring one of the winning books from Speech Pathology Australia's 2021 Book of the Year awards plus information on how you can boost your child's language and literacy development at home, and what support is available locally.
Bathurst Library manager Patou Clerc said Speechie Library Talks were a joint initiative between Speech Pathology Australia and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"These talks recognise the important role libraries play in supporting literacy and language development," Ms Clerc said.
"We have hundreds of free books and online resources available at the library to support these vital skills, including many books recommended by Speech Pathology Australia.
"Our regular children's Storytime and Baby Rhyme Time programs are also designed to help children develop their early literacy skills.
"All of these programs are free to attend and held during school terms throughout the year."
This informative talk is free and open to all local parents and carers. However, numbers are limited and bookings are essential.
COVID entry requirements to the library will apply.
