The owners of Mt Bathurst Poll Dorset Stud at Black Springs will be donating the proceeds from the sale of lot 20 to research into a cure for cancer.
The Healeys began incorporating Cancer Council into their sale five years ago when their daughter was diagnosed with metastatic cancer.
"We made the decision to consolidate our charitable donations to the Cancer Council to assist in supporting research in the hope that one day a cure will be found," Mrs Healey said.
"We decided to contribute through our annual Poll Dorset Ram sale.
"We realise that many families, not just our family, are impacted by cancer and the devastation that it causes not only the person who has the cancer but for children, husbands, wives, grandparents and our wider community."
Mrs Healey hopes that a breakthrough with finding a cure isn't just a distant dream and that they're donations help speed up the process.
Over the past 20 years research has seen improvements in cancer prevention, early detection, screening and treatments, resulting in over 100,000 Australian lives being saved.
Mrs Healey said some buyers only come to purchase the Cancer Council ram because they're happy for the money to go to such a worthy cause.
"We asked ourselves 'what can we do to help our own family and other families who experience cancer' and decided the best option is to donate what we can each year and we do this through the sale of one of our rams," she said.
"Some people just come to buy it, they're quite willing to buy a good ram and quite willing to donate to cancer council and if somebody particularly wants that ram then there's a bit of a bidding foray for it."
Cancer didn't stop for COVID but unfortunately many Cancer Council fundraisers did.
A Cancer Council spokesperson said despite COVID they have continued to receive tremendous support from communities which they are truly grateful for.
Mt Bathurst Poll Dorset pride themselves on breeding quality bloodlines that are well-structured and proven performers.
The on-property sale is set to begin at 1pm on Thursday, November 4, with 80 quality rams up for auction.
