Since the lockdown came in back during August, the library had been shut, with the community only able to borrow books through a click-and-collect system.

While that click-and-collect system will remain in place, people can finally return to the library to borrow books in person.

Bathurst Library manager Patou Clerc said it's exciting that people can finally return to the library in person.

"It's definitely great to have people back, it's been too quiet," she said.

"One thing that happens when we have a lockdown like this, we end up with too many books on our shelves. We need people to come and take books out."

Hours have also slightly changed at the library, open from 10am-5pm during the weekday.

People can still use the click-and-collect system and will be able to pick up their books between 5.15pm-6pm in the afternoon.

"We'll be continuing that service because we didn't want people left without access to library material," Ms Clerc said.

Anyone that wishes to enter the library and borrow a book must be fully vaccinated and will be required to sign-in with the QR code.
