My Brilliant Hair has only just opened over the last week and owner Karen Dwyer is already flat out.
Located next to Brilliant Street Café Mrs Dwyer feels right at home.
"I used to get coffee here and I used to peek in the window and think 'aw a little salon in here would be nice'," she said.
"I knew the lady who owned the building and we all got chatting one day and she said yeah go for it, so that's how it all started.
"I grew up just down the road on Brilliant Street, mum lives across from the AFL fields there so I feel like I'm back home."
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Mrs Dwyer has been a hairdresser for over 30 years and is excited to be running her own salon for the first time.
She has plans to only stock Australian made products and is also supporting small local businesses.
"The retail is all Australian owned and organic, I'm working towards helping Australian businesses and keeping it all in the one country," Mrs Dwyer said.
"I'm going to be selling Georgia Rae earrings, she's a local girl who makes earrings and stuff [and] Erika's [Dwyer] making candles and soaps and stuff so nice little things like that."
The salon and coffee shop have teamed up and every clients getting their hair done will also receive a complimentary coffee.
Mrs Dwyer hopes to provide her clients with a "nice, personal experience" and has hit the ground running with so many people eager to have their hair done now that lockdown is over.
Not only have existing clients booked in but My Brilliant Hair has had a number of new inquiries as well.
