IT took a bold, long range, three-wide move he wasn't quite sure would pay off, but pay off it did for Nathan Turnbull as he snatched victory with Bomani at the Bathurst Paceway on Wednesday night.

It came down to a half neck in the Sky Racing Active Pace (1,730 metres), Bomani nudging out Drive To The Beach, who had led almost the entire journey for Nathan's father and fellow The Lagoon trainer-driver Steve Turnbull.
Both men enjoyed the finish and shared a laugh after the tight finish.
"You never know with Dad, he's funny, he can just be sitting there but the petrol tank can be on empty, like he tries to kid to them," Nathan Turnbull said.
"So I was always worried, but then when he started to jump around a bit I thought 'I might get him here' and it was probably only 100 out I thought I was going to get him.
"We both had a laugh as we were pulling up, 'That was a good race', but yeah, that was a good result."
A four-year-old Roll With Joe x Stephanie Major gelding, Bomani hadn't won since enjoying back-to-back success at Cowra in June. However, Turnbull still thought his $7.50 chance could figure in proceedings.
From barrier three he found a a sit one out and three back, while up front Drive To The Beach showed good gate speed to find the front then peeled off a hot 27.6 seconds opening quarter.
With around 650m to go, Nathan Turnbull guided Bomani three wide in in search of the lead and had closed to second by the 400m mark.
Drive To The Beach ($8.50) led the way down the straight, but Bomani kicked inside the final 50m to pinch the win in a career-best 1:57.3 mile rate. Third, a further 4.2m back, was Nathan Hurst's Im Major Harry ($26).
"Besides last week when I was probably a little disappointed in him, his runs before that have all been good so I give him a sneaky little chance. Then when they went that hard early I thought I had to go a fair way from home, but I knew the ones in front of me had all done a bit of work," Turnbull said.
"I got rolling as we got into the back straight, which is not ideal, but it all worked out as the three in front of me had all done a bit of work."
It was the first of two winners for the evening for Turnbull, who also found success with Chase The Feeling ($3.60).
