With the name Fika meaning "to slow down and appreciate the good things in life", café manager Jorja Fawkner is working towards making it the perfect place to do so.
One-third of the Dejorja and Co complex, Ms Fawkner said they made the most of lockdown by focusing on the future of Fika and brainstorming some exciting possibilities.
"COVID gave us a bit of time to think about what we want to do with the café in the future," Ms Fawkner said.
"That's how we came up with the idea of getting the petting zoo and reorganising our menu, coming up with a summer menu, and it gave us some free time to think about what we want to do with Fika in the future."
In addition to a baby goat, three bunnies and two chickens joining the courtyard outside of the café, Ms Fawkner's friend painted some murals to brighten up the area.
Coming into the warmer weather, customers can now enjoy the new summer menu options and take in some fresh air while their children play in the courtyard and with the animals.
Ms Fawkner said they are looking at getting more animals for the petting zoo and are playing with the idea of writing a children's book about the petting zoo to read at story time sessions.
"So we're trying to make our own book, a petting zoo book, so kids can come and sit down and we can read them a book while the parents are shopping," she said.
"It's a really safe space because we've blocked off the driveway in between the petting zoo and the coffee shop so no cars can get through."
The café is also currently running a weekly competition leading up to Christmas where each week a winner will be selected and will receive a free meal and drink at Fika.
To enter the competition customers just simply have to post a photo to social media using the hashtag 'Fika Courtyard' and they will go into the running to win.
