I take issue with the proposed slalom course on this stretch of Campbells River. With a bird's eye view of this section I can definitely say that other dam users will be definitely adversely affected by this activity.
This section of the river is used by kayakers, sailing boats and skiffs (rowers) and fishing boats. There is no way these activities are compatible. These activities take place on this section precisely because there are no power boats there and it is safe for them to be there.
This section is an eight knot zone. Leave the river for other uses.
The people who live on this section, such as my family, do not want the noise pollution associated with this permanent set up.
The Water Ski Club have told us there are noise baffles on the boats. For those of you familiar with living on or near the water - you know how sound travels on the water.
From our house, we can hear people talking while they're sitting in their boats/yachts/skiffs on this section of the river. Is every boat that uses this proposed facility going to be "sound baffled"? I wouldn't think so. Choose another spot where you won't be impacting existing residents and other users.
