There are a number of learn to swim programs available to children in Bathurst including Manning Aquatic Centre's GOSwim program.
A Belgravia Leisure spokesperson said between July 1, 2020 and June 30 ,2021, 294 deaths were reported due to drowning according to Royal Life Saving Australia's most recent national drowning report.

"Tragically, these statistics represent the highest number of drowning deaths in children aged 0 - 4 years and 5-14 years in the last two decades," the spokesperson said.
"Safety in and around the water has always been one of Belgravia Leisure's highest priorities, and regular swimming lessons play an important role in reinforcing confidence in the water."
The GoSwim program teaches children of all ages the essential components of personal survival and water safety elements as well as strengthening their swimming techniques.
