Hugh Le Lievre's CYMS are coming off a disappointing summer of results, but appear more than equipped to turn some heads this campaign.
With Dave Neil, Rory Daburger, Jack Cale and Peter Gott all set to mix it up this year, the green and golds will also welcome a dynamic duo from Kinross and Mac Webster and Charlie Tink shape as two massive signings for CYMS.
"It's shaping up pretty well for us this year," opening bat Tom Belmonte said.
"Those two [Tink and Webster] are both Western guns, and we'll welcome back Peter Gott... he's a fast bowler which is something we desperately needed last year.
"We'll continue to work on improving our juniors and encourage them to progress up the ranks."
Led by Le Lievre, CYMS have always been quiet achievers and there hasn't been much discussion about how far this side can go in 2021-22.
"We haven't spoken too much about it just yet," he said.
"There's obviously that fifth finals spot now so we'd be trying to nail fourth or fifth."
Not only is Belmonte keen to see what the Kinross duo can do, he knows that Le Lievre is the best captain to guide them through the pre-season and into the business end.
"He's a great mentor for them... especially if they're looking to play high-level cricket in the future," he said.
Looking around the league, Belmonte thinks that most of last season's contenders will be around the pointy end again, especially the defending premiers.
"Orange City looks incredible," he said.
CYMS will open their campaign on October 30 against Bathurst City. After that they'll play Centrals.
