After years of playing together for their school and St Pat's Old Boys, the two brothers will be on opposing teams for the first time in an official match.
David is set to start for last year's minor premiers St Pat's Old Boys, while Ben has opted to link with new boys ORC in its return to the first grade competition.
David, the older of the two, said he's looking forward to facing off against his brother for the first time.
IN OTHER CRICKET NEWS:
"It's very exciting. I don't think we've played each other in a match before so I'm really keen to see how it goes," he said.
"We've obviously had plenty of battles in the backyard but it'll be very different."
Cant believes the mood at the home on Friday night might be a bit heated.
"There might be a bit of tension at the dinner table, so it might be interesting," he laughed.
"I won't be giving too much away to him. I'll be keeping my cards close to my chest, you know."
This season will mark his return to St Pat's, having sat out last year due to work commitments in Wollongong.
His last appearance in the blue and white was during 2019-20, where he featured in eight matches in a season that was ultimately cancelled during the finals because of the outbreak of COVID-19.
Ben, the younger of the brothers, will be travelling back from Newcastle - where he currently attends university - on Friday afternoon and he said he's been practicing his sledging.
"I've been working on my sledging just for him, when he comes out to bat," he laughed.
"I'm not sure I'll get a bowl against him, I'll just have to take a catch. I'm sure he'll give us a chance."
Ben joins ORC alongside his ex-St Pat's and Scots All Saints teammates Hugh Parsons and Hamish Siegert.
Playing alongside some friends has made the move to the Tigers a lot easier.
"Getting an opportunity was one of the main reasons to come over. With a couple of us making the move, it was certainly more attractive with a few friends around," he said.
"I'm really looking forward to the season with ORC. I've been to one training session and it felt like a good club to be at.
"Certainly the first round match-up against St Pat's is an exciting one and I'm looking forward to playing it."
Ben made his first grade debut at St Pat's during the 2019-20 season and last season he scored a total of 128 runs from six innings, including a high of 94 against CYMS in January.
Play between St Pat's Old Boys and ORC will get underway from from Morse Park 1 at 1pm.
In other round one matches, Cavaliers will host City Colts at Orange's Wade Park, Bathurst City and CYMS will play at Morse Park 2, reigning champions Orange City have an away trip to Bathurst to play Centennials Bulls at George Park 1 and Centrals will host Rugby Union at Riawena Oval in Orange.
All games on Saturday, like all matches in the first four rounds, are one-day matches.
