Nic Broes ripped through the Tigers' batting line-up last Saturday as he took 5-5 off his eight overs of spin, the effort helping St Pat's Old Boys to an eight-wicket, bonus-point win.
After falling to 2020-21 runners-up St Pat's in round one things won't get any easier for ORC this Saturday either as they are drawn to play defending premiers Orange City.
But Broes pointed out the Tigers do have experienced players in their XI and that the juniors who are stepping up to BOIDC for the first time will improve as they get more games under their belt.
"The talent is there I think, they've just got to get some confidence. Seeing a few of them when they came out to bat, there were a couple of them that were in their shell a bit," Broes said.
"But I think with a few games they'll be right into it. They were obviously without Wayne [Sellers] against us as well, he's another experienced head to have around and a seriously good batter.
"So I think they'll get better when things all pan out over the next five weeks."
Certainly Wayne and Dave Sellers shape as key figures given both have played in BODIC previously as well as having representative experience.
But Hamish Siegert fought hard opening the batting against St Pat's with his 28 and both Ben Cant (41) and Ethan Muller (49) made good runs in Bonnor Cup on Sunday against Cavaliers. Those performances will no doubt increase their confidence.
In terms of bowling, Tim McKinnon's economical 1-18 off six overs against the Saints was a good sign, while Jacob Ryan picked up a wicket in both Saturday's BOIDC match and Sunday's Bonnor Cup clash.
