There were plenty of medal performances for Bathurst riders at the AusCycling U19, U23, Elite, Para & Masters Road State Championships, with an elite road race silver for Will Hodges and an under 19s time trial silver for Luke Tuckwell the pick of the bunch.
Bathurst's great results extended into the masters events, thanks to Rosemary Hastings' silver double in the MW9 time trial and road race as well as Jeremy Ryan's MM5 time trial.
Hodges, attempting to defend his title, finished behind former teammate Tom Bolton - another regular at Bathurst Cycling Club events - and former Bathurst Cycling Classic champion Ben Hill rounded out the breakaway group of three riders on the podium.
Bolton's state title adds to the Bathurst Cycling Classic criterium crown he won earlier this year.
Tuckwell won a very close scrap for the runner-up spot in his time trial ahead of Canberra's Cameron Rogers, but Manly's Dylan George was a dominant gold medal winner.
Orange native Tuckwell said there was no disappointment at all coming in around a minute behind George.
"I have finished behind him many, many times. He's the national champion in the road race and was second in the time trial at nationals, so he's the best rider at this age in Australia," Tuckwell said.
"I was pretty happy to finish only a minute behind him considering I haven't done much time trialling over the last six months. I've just mostly been doing work at home. I was a bit unsure about how I'd go and what my form would be like but I stayed optimistic.
"I was able to perform on the day and grab second, which I was really happy with."
Just reaching the finish in a competitive time was a big battle for many riders, with fierce winds and chilly conditions lashing out at them for much of Saturday and Sunday's racing.
"It was atrocious. It was 10 degrees but felt like one degree. There were 40 kilometre winds on both days and it was raining heavily on Saturday for the time trial," Tuckwell said.
"Thankfully I was able to put that out on my mind, which a lot of other people got caught up on. That helps you a lot mentally when you're out there trying to get yourself prepared.
"It was great just to not get blown off the road."
Several other riders came close to adding to Bathurst's medal tally.
Cath Adams was fourth in the MW6 time trial while Craig Hutton, riding his first year of masters at the state titles, finished sixth in both the MM1 time trial and road race.
Nic Barrett came home seventh in a very competitive MM4 road race field.
Ryan and Tuckwell nearly added to their time trial medals in the following day's road races, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Former Bathurst Cycling Club competitor Emily Watts won the elite women's time trial and another Bathurst racing regular, Ella Falzarano (representing Manly), won silver in the elite women's road race.
