Taking influence from some of Australia's most iconic songwriters, including Shane Howard, Missy Higgins and John Butler, Maynard's tunes come straight from the heart, as well as from his many travels.
Maynard's gig at The Victoria will see him perform live with a full band for the first time, and he said he's excited to share his music with a Bathurst audience.
"It's a great opportunity for me to be able to perform a full set of originals at a ticketed event, and it'll be great to showcase the band," he said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"I haven't performed much in Bathurst either, so it'll be great to come up and see what the community has to offer."
Maynard has virtually grown up on stages around the Central West, releasing his first studio album independently at the age of 16.
He has since played a number of high-profile gigs around the region and beyond, including at Orange's Day on the Green as an opening act for Imagine Dragons and Cold Chisel.
While folk is his core genre, Maynard said his current musical direction incorporates a number of different styles.
"I basically write whatever is relevant to the story I'm trying to tell, although I always find it easier to write about my own experiences," he said.
"Outside of COVID times, I get around quite a bit gig-wise, playing at a number of different places, and you get to meet so many people and experience new horizons out on the road."
Maynard's latest single, Atomic War, was featured on the Arts OutWest compilation album While the World Waits, which saw a host of Central West musicians produce responses to the pandemic and the way they've been impacted by it.
MORE WHAT'S ON NEWS:
"I'm looking forward to continue creating more music, and the band has certainly helped further stretch my knowledge as a musician.
Maynard's gig will be held at Little Albert's this Sunday, November 28. Doors open at 2pm for a 3pm start. The event will continue next week with Dave Webb.
Tickets cost $10. For more information, visit The Victoria Bathurst Facebook page.
