Bailey Brien, Nicholas Broes, Jack Goodsell, Ryan Peacock, Jameel Qureshi, Adam Ryan, Connor Slattery and Mitchell Taylor are the Bathurst players who have made the initial Western squad.
The squad will be trimmed down to a final group of 14 players who will be selected to represent Western at the Country Championships in Shoalhaven across February 4 to 6 next year.
Brien, Taylor, Peacock, Slattery and Qureshi were all a part of last season's Country Championships campaign with Western and will be hopeful of making a return.
The remainder of the Western squad includes Thomas Coady, Bailey Edmunds, Matthew Everett, Martin Jeffrey, Brock Larance, Hugh Le Lievre, Edward Morrish, Thomas Nelson, Ben Patterson, Mathew Skinner, Myles Smith, Brent Tucker and Ben Wheeler.
All players in the squad will have two training sessions in Dubbo, on December 5 and January 9, before the final team heads to the championships.
Western are due to play Greater Illawarra (February 4), Riverina (February 5) and ACT Southern Districts (February 6) in the Shoalhaven pool, with the final to follow on February 13.
The squad will be chasing a much improved performance from the 2020-21 edition of the tournament where they went winless over their three games.
