He has been racing at Mount Panorama this week, but was able to find time in his busy schedule to drop by the aged care facility.
Residents listened intently as he shared details about his motor sport career, and were able to ask him questions about the industry and have their photos taken with him.
The visit was arranged by Macquarie Care activities coordinator Tania Livingston, who said the visit meant a lot to the residents after such a difficult year.
"I sent a message and just asked if he would be interested in coming and talking to them. I sent a few, and he was the only one that actually answered back," she said.
"... To give them something to look forward to, especially after COVID and lockdown, it's just amazing. When I stood here in the dining room and said, 'Guess what? We're having a racing car driving coming to visit us', they cheered. They were genuinely excited."
McCorkindale proved a hit amongst the residents, and he said he enjoyed hearing their questions.
"We do a lot of interactions at the track and half the time we don't get any questions, so it's nice to have people actually interested in what we do," he said.
