The vehicle that will be the centrepiece of the society's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr show travelled from Victoria to Bathurst last week - but in the traditional way, on the road, rather than flying.
"Chitty belongs to [amateur theatre company] CentreStage down in Geelong and the lovely people have hired it to us," Carillon Junior Theatrical Society's Bronni Colley said.
"We've got her 'til the end of our show season. She actually does fly with a little bit of magic.
"My husband and brother-in-law drove down to get it on Monday and got back at four o'clock on Tuesday morning."
It's one of the final pieces in the puzzle to fall into place for the show, which has faced a number of hurdles due to the COVID disruptions of the past 18 months.
Those hurdles have included recasting because young performers have had to pull out for various reasons due to the long lead-up, being forced to change performance dates, adjusting costumes as the cast has changed and, even after all that, "still not knowing whether it [the show] was going to go ahead".
But the finish line is now in sight.
The show will be held from this Wednesday to Sunday, December 15 to 19 at the Beau Brown Pavilion at Bathurst Showground.
Tickets for the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr show can be purchased via Eventbrite, www.cjts.com.au or the Carillon Junior Theatrical Society's Facebook page.
