School teacher and artist Joanne Wu runs Tipsy Creations, where people are guided to create works of art in a social setting with a drink in hand.

She started hosting workshops and private functions in early 2020, which were unfortunately impacted by the pandemic, but business really picked up for the talented artist in 2021.

"It wasn't the best time to start, but I guess persevering through it has paid off. It was definitely slow, but I think now that people are allowed out, people are starting to know the brand a little bit better," she said.

"It has gained a bit of traction and it has been good. Comparing this year to last year, I would say there has definitely been growth."

Ms Wu hosts regular workshops at The Greens on William, and has three coming up in early 2022.

The first will be held on January 21 and bookings for that public workshop are open now.

She is also accepting requests for private functions, which can be in person or virtual.

"We pop up wherever people like, whether it is in their home, whether it's through a venue they would like to book, it's really depending on them," she said.

Regardless of the format of the sessions, Ms Wu ensures that people are guided by simple instructions to help them create beautiful works of art to take home.

People don't need to have any painting experience to participate either.

"These workshops are designed for people like that, people who are beginners and have no clue what's going on," Ms Wu said.

"I would say they are really suitable for everyone, even people with a bit of skill. Obviously, they can go on and do their own thing based off the instructions, but it is step-by-step, there is a live demonstration, and there is guidance."

Ms Wu paints a variety of things, but animals and landscapes are among the most commonly featured subjects of her workshops.

Ms Wu supplies all the materials for workshops, with the costs covered by the booking fee.

For those who aren't ready to attend workshops, Ms Wu also sells painting kits with instructions so people can create the same pieces in their homes at their leisure.
