PARALYMPICS swimming medallist Tiffany Thomas Kane has been announced as the Bathurst region's Australia Day ambassador for 2022.

Ms Kane won two bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralympics in breast stroke and individual medley events and she won gold at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London.
She made her career debut at just 13 after being born with hypochondraplasia, a developmental disorder which resulted in her short stature.

The 20-year-old has previously been an ambassador at Port Macquarie in 2021 and Armidale in 2018.
"I've done it a few times and I enjoy it every time," she told the Port News newspaper.
"Australia Day is a time to all get together and celebrate what we're all about."
Other Central West ambassadors include Peter Cousens (Oberon), Suzanne Hopman (Blayney) and Kumar Pereira (Orange).
