The emergence of the two Bathurst-based teams is reflective of an overall growth in women's rugby union in the Central West. This season there were three separate female premierships and the Blue Bullettes representative outfit won a second consecutive Country Championship title.
The popularity of the code is still growing and for those who ranks amongst the most talented, opportunities for higher level rugby keep coming too.
Next February will be one of those huge opportunities as the Blue Bullettes play a trial against Super W outfit the Melbourne Rebels.
Mel Waterford, who is amongst Central West's most experienced female players, knows how special it is.
"It's great to see women's rugby keep progressing and this opportunity - I don't think it's something any other zone will be getting," she said.
"This is one of those opportunities you'll never get again. It's like when the girls that got to play the Chikarovski Cup game a couple of years ago when they put all the Wallaroos in.
"It's bridging the gap between the two as well and strengthening up those lower tiers for when players get to those semi-professional and professional levels."
While the Blue Bullettes will no doubt be underdogs for the match, they will relish the chance to showcase their skills. It has already created plenty of interest.
"The girls are really excited and we've had really big numbers registering and trialling for Central West this year," Waterford said.
"It's kind of like when the NSW Country boys have got to play international teams in the past, it doesn't matter if you get beaten, it's more about that opportunity and that experience to play against players who can really play.
"For to get us this level of a trial is definitely something to help us going forward."
