Riders haven't had the opportunity to get back to the track for some time - a circuit that isn't your typical criterium-friendly setup.
The format sees riders cycle for only around half an hour at a high tempo, with breakaway attempts and a high pace being frequent occurrences.
But Sulman Park's undulating nature adds a lot of tactical spice to a style of cycling that's normally held on flatter courses.
Bathurst Cycling Club's Toireasa Gallagher, who has been co-ordinating this Tuesday's edition, said it's nice to bring riders back to a stretch of tarmac that's producing some exciting racing in the past.
"It's been a long time since we've been up there," she said.
"We have a group that manages bookings at the Mount, since we share the space with several other clubs, and we saw that we hadn't had any crit racing for a while so we wanted to try it.
"The stars just really aligned for us and everything fell into place for us to give this a go."
The club are still hopeful of gaining more late entries to the race, and Gallagher expects to have a decent turnout for the return to Mount Panorama.
"The idea of a criterium is to produce short, fun and fast racing," she said.
"They aren't too time consuming and they give everyone a bit of variety along with the regular road racing.
"It's a challenging course and it isn't a typical crit circuit, such as where you're racing around the town square. It allows people with additional skills, like cornering, to show what they can do.
"It's the kind of course that if you're willing to give it a try you can get a breakaway win, or you can still save it up for a sprint at the end."
Bathurst Cycling Club has produced several strong crtierium riders in recent years, such as Craig Hutton and Will Hodges, while regular club competitor Tom Bolton was last year's Bathurst Cycling Classic crit champion.
The combined C and D grade race will start from 6pm while the A and B grade race will follow on from that at 6.30pm.
The opening race will be 20 minutes with three additional laps while the top grade event will be 25 minutes with three addition laps.
