Bathurst Library is set to host a new series of computer classes for people who would like to learn more about technology.
The classes will be held thanks to a grant from Tech Savvy Seniors, a partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra that provides technology training through NSW public libraries and community colleges.
Computers for Beginners will begin on Tuesday, February 8 and will involve four fortnightly sessions covering basics such as internet searching, file saving and storage, email, security tips and more.
Participation is free and the library will have limited laptops available for anyone who cannot bring their own.
Library services manager Patou Clerc said libraries are playing an increasingly important role in bridging the digital divide.
"Computers can seem daunting but, like most things, once you take that first step, it becomes much easier," she said.
"These classes aim to give people basic skills to get started and build their confidence, along with some handy resources so they can continue their learning journey after the course finishes."
