A meeting is scheduled for January 29 to discuss the matter and show president Dave Murray remains optimistic.

"If I can't get an active labour force, it's just a non-entity," Mr Murray said.

"At this point in time, we're positive that we will have a show, but we'll be taking advice on that on the 29th.

"We are prepared to run the show, everything's in place to do it, it's just a matter of whether people have got the scares in the last few weeks."

Though at this point in time the COVID restrictions in place won't impact on the show if it goes ahead, Mr Murray expects numbers will be down with people still nervous about being in large crowds.

The show group has also foregone relying on major sponsorship due to so many businesses being hit hard by COVID.

"As a small show, you still rely on people just turning up; that's basically how it's always worked," Mr Murray said.

"We normally get 800-odd people or more through the gate."

The show features a number of stalls offering an array of different goods, carnival rides, animal shows and much more.

The dog and horse events at the country shows are very important for the people competing as they provide an opportunity to earn vital points to be able to compete at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

"It's all a point score event for Sydney Royal," Mr Murray said.

"So those who need to get brownie points to get to Sydney Royal, they have to go to these little shows.

"They can get up to 300 dogs there on a normal show day."

Mr Murray is remaining positive and hoping that there is enough interest generated at the meeting at the end of January so locals won't have to cross the show off their calendars.

The show is due to be held in late February.
