Grunwald will appear in Bathurst as part of a mini tour to support his upcoming eleventh studio album, Shout Into the Noise, which has seen the seasoned musician challenge himself and push into new territory.
According to Grunwald, the audience can expect an intimate solo gig featuring "a million guitars."
"With 10 studio albums already, there's a lot of ground to cover, but there'll also be a few songs off the new record that I'm really excited to share," he said.
"Its been fun to be able to perform the songs in a more relaxed format, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Bathurst responds to the performance."
Shout Into the Noise is slated for release on March 11, and has already yielded two singles: 'I Want You to Know' and 'Good Thing'.
A third single, the title track 'Shout Into the Noise', is slated for release this Friday.
Grunwald said the album has been ready to go for a while, but has been delayed as a result of "all the craziness happening in the world" [COVID-19].
"Almost every song on the record has been co-written with other artists, and the collaborative process enabled me to showcase different sides of my music," he said.
"Not every song is 'super bluesy', and the sound of this record is certainly more precious than anything I've done before."
The collaborative aspect of Shout Into the Noise will serve as a fitting follow-up to 2020's Push the Blues Away, which saw Grunwald team up with fellow blues extraordinaire Josh Teskey produce the first top 10 record in Australia for both as solo artists.
"The blues genre is so versatile and multi-faceted, and I've especially enjoyed seeing more musicians infuse the blues with other styles, as it's something I really set out to accomplish in the mid-2000s as my career was getting started," Grunwald said.
"I'm always shocked to see the intro themes to these Netflix 'shoot-em-up' shows mix the blues with deep beats and, at times, hip-hop, I'm glad blues fusion became a thing."
Grunwald has six top 50 albums two APRA Awards. In addition, he's been nominated for five ARIA Awards and four AIR Awards, and was named Best International Act at the LA Music Critic Awards in 2014.
He will perform at The Victoria Bathurst on Sunday, January 30 from 2pm. Tickets cost $50, or $25 if you choose to redeem a Discover NSW voucher. For more information, visit the The Victoria's Facebook page.
