Construction has begun on Raku Izakaya, the new Japanese restaurant, and Kebab Prime, which is the most recent addition to the centre.

"Both of those shops we think should be there by about March," Westpoint development manager Jonathan Carlile said.

"These things always seem to take forever and Christmas gets in the way, but pretty well all the planning's done now for both of them and they're now into the construction phase."

With four empty food shop spaces still to fill, the aim for the complex is to be as diverse as possible with its tenants.

Mr Carlile said they are in the process of signing a lease with a new tenant which will add another takeaway cuisine option to Westpoint.

He would also love to secure chicken and burger stores to make the centre a real one-stop-shop for Windradyne and the surrounding areas.

"They're our real targets for two of our shops there and we think we'd have a pretty compelling food offer," Mr Carlile said.

"We've got another tenant looking at the moment and we're about to embark on another leasing campaign ... a bit more on the takeaway side, which will be good.

"So, really keen to ramp up ... we would love to get a barber and a hairdresser; I don't understand why we don't have one.

"We've had a few look but I think people are just a bit shy around starting a business with COVID."

Mr Carlile said there's a really good mix of businesses at Westpoint and he hopes the last few spaces will be occupied by the end of the year.

Currently operating at Westpoint Shopping Centre is a BWS liquor store, a pharmacy, Balance Early Education, the medical centre, IGA, Café West, Steve's Quality Meats, and a Domino's franchise.

"The IGA's going stronger and stronger every month, which is good," Mr Carlile said.

"The childcare continues to kick some goals and the medical practice has never been busier, as you can imagine."

The name of the business set to join the Westpoint Shopping Centre complex won't be revealed until the lease is finalised, but Mr Carlile said it's an Asian takeaway offering.
