It was meant to be a special announcement to coincide with their appearance at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, but as it was postponed to April, the 'Smith & Jones' blend has been unveiled as the latest collaboration between Camp Grounds Tamworth and Floozy Coffee Roasters.
The blend has been described as a smooth mixture featuring notes of strawberry, fruit and nut, chocolate and malt, and Smith & Jones said it was a fun process to be involved with.
"While we're unfortunately unable to promote it in Tamworth, it's an exciting new product that not only reflects our love for coffee, but some of the amazing people we've met through our association with the festival," Smith said.
"Matt from Camp Grounds used to manage a venue we've played at in Tamworth during the festival, and he opened a cafe a couple of years ago with his partner, Monique, and they've both been big supporters of ours, and K-Mac from Floozy is the only female coffee roaster in Australia, so this collaboration is a dream for us," Jones added.
Smith said the collaboration process with both Camp Grounds and Floozy went smoothly as both businesses shared the duo's aesthetic vision.
"Camp Grounds has this amazing, 70s retro vibe that is very much up our alley as performers, as vintage fashion is a big part of our identity," she said.
"Floozy's very much the same: a bit more minimalist, but quite feminine without being over the top: it's exactly the sort of style we admire as a duo."
"It's hard to come up with new me4rchandising avenues when so many musicians are really thinking outside the box, so when we were approached about this coffee blend, we just couldn't say no."
The limited edition blend comes with a QR code on the bank linking consumers to Smith & Jones' music on Spotify.
The pair have new music in the works, and are hoping to release a new recording in 2022, but both have acknowledged its an incredibly trying time for musicians due to the pandemic.
"We've got an EP ready to go, but we haven't set anything in stone yet. The next step for us will be to release a single in the coming months, and there will definitely be a bigger release later in the year, whether it be an EP or an album," Jones said.
