A BLOCK of units where a 49-year-old man was murdered this morning remains in lock down, with more specialist forensic officers arriving at the scene.

The 49-year-old was stabbed in the chest just before 8.30am this morning following a disturbance in the block of flats.
Police an paramedics rushed to Rocket Street after receiving a triple 000 call, however the 49-year-old died at the scene.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man who is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
Chifley Local Area Commander Supt Michael Robinson spoke to the media at Bathurst Police Station, and while he was unable to give detailed information about the incident, he was able to confirm the victim and the 40-year-old who is now assisting police did know each other.
He said the building remained in lock down enabling forensic specialist to work unhindered at the scene.
Supt Robinson said police were also interviewing a number of witnesses to the incident, but also called on anyone who police have not yet spoken to, to make contact with Bathurst Detectives as soon as possible.
