Leading business consultant and commentator Damian Morgan [pictured] said there was concern the real economy in regional centres like Bathurst would continue to face significant headwinds.
He said the Bathurst market was changing at a faster pace each year, with local proprietors now competing with online competitors from around the world. He warned local businesses to be careful of complacency.
“The small business environment is still tough in regional centres, as there is more competition than ever before and consumers are still cautious,” Mr Morgan said.
“The worst thing to do is put your head in the sand. These are long-term structural changes that require businesses to adapt.”
Mr Morgan is coming to Bathurst to run free business workshops on the topic: The Risk Dilemma – How great businesses know which risks to take.
“Business owners need to be taking action to make the most of their local advantage, but the key is how to do that,” he said.
“Small business owners understand risk – the key is knowing which risks to take to stay on top of change and ahead of your competitors.”
