The Monster Energy Australian Supercross Championship will run the opening two rounds of the series at Bathurst Showground on the evenings of October 10 and 11.
It will add to the motor sport feel in the city given the V8 Supercars and four support categories will be in Bathurst at the same time for the Bathurst 1000 race week.
With the Supercross racing action kicking off at 7pm, fans will be able to enjoy a full day at Mount Panorama before heading to town for an evening of family entertainment, world class supercross racing and freestyle motocross.
Defending Australian Supercross champion Matt Moss, who recently secured consecutive motocross titles, will be a marked man when the gates drop.
The Team Motul Suzuki rider, who counts his twin brother Jake as one of his stiffest opponents, said he is determined to defend his title.
“It is going to be a pretty gruelling weekend at Bathurst with two rounds to contest,” Moss said.
“For motorsport fans this weekend is one to tick off your bucket list – V8 Supercars by day and Supercross by night. What more could you ask for?
Moss knows he will be a marked man.
“But I have learnt that if you can win one race you should be able to repeat it and I will take that approach with the championship,” he said.
His twin brother Jake hasn’t won an Australian title since 2009 and is hungrier than ever to take the crown.
“I have had some great results and I also did well in America; I just need to piece it all together,” he said.
“I want the 2015 Australian Supercross title and I will go to any lengths to win it.”
The Australian Supercross Championship has fostered world champions and launched countless riders onto the international stage.
Viewed globally as a successful prelude for riders ahead of the AMA Supercross Championship, the series has lured some of the biggest names in the sport to compete in Australian events.
With the Australian Supercross Championship set to confirm a number of international competitors for the 2014 series over the coming weeks, Matt Moss echoed the importance of the Australian events.
“Supercross in Australia is extremely important,” he said.
“It’s where the big crowds are, where sponsors can sit down and watch a spectacle and it is the series that pricks up the ears of our international counterparts.
“For me, it is also where my fans enjoy watching big jumps, intense, close racing and me going bar to bar with my competitors.”
Matt and Jake Moss, along with eight-time Australian champion Jay Marmont, will go head-to-head at rounds one and two of the Australian Supercross Championship at Bathurst Showground on October 10 and 11.
