Local job seekers and employers will be brought together at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, providing direct access to employment options.
The Expo will provide a unique opportunity for job seekers to hear from industry experts and meet with a diverse range of organisations.
It will feature more than 20 exhibitors, including representatives from Charles Sturt University, VERTO, Adecco, TAFE Western, The Widdon Group and Nestle.
Council’s economic development team hope to see the list of participating organisations grow during coming weeks.
These exhibitors will be able to provide plenty of advice on changing employment status, returning to work, updating resumes, interview techniques and performance, leaving school and looking for an apprenticeship, and the transition to retirement.
A list of current job vacancies will be displayed on a large screen throughout the day.
Mayor Gary Rush is supporting the project and believes it will be a positive step forward for Bathurst.
“Council is focused on supporting jobs and growing the economy for the ongoing benefit of the community,” he said.
“We recognise there have been some negative job growth results in the last few months locally, which reflects a national trend in reductions in the manufacturing sector, but we remain confident as the unemployment rate for the Bathurst region remains consistently lower than the rest of NSW.”
Cr Rush said the Bathurst economy has maintained one of the fastest growth rates in regional NSW, with 1.69 per cent population growth and 2.2 per cent GDP growth from last year.
The Bathurst Job Expo is on Tuesday, November 29 from 10am to 6pm. To get involved in this unique opportunity, register your attendance online at www.bathurstregion.com.au or call 1800 44 88 96.
