A MAN caught drink- driving after being pulled over by police for speeding has been fined and disqualified from driving for six months.

Bernard Kevin Auld, 47, of Arnold Court in Kelso, appeared before Bathurst Local Court last week charged with drink-driving in the mid range.
Police facts tendered to the court told how police observed Auld driving a Kia Cerato east along Church Lane on September 10 this year. He caught the attention of police because of the dust being thrown up as the vehicle turned onto Church Lane.
A radar check of his vehicle revealed Auld’s car was doing 91 kilometres an hour in a 50km/hr zone.
A subsequent radar check of Auld’s car’s speed showed an initial speed of 91km/hr dropping to 81km/hr during the speed check.
Police stopped Auld for the initial offence of exceeding the speed limit and for the purpose of a roadside breath test, due to his manner of driving.
As they were speaking to Auld, they noticed the smell of liquor on his breath, and he told police he had just left the Panorama Hotel, where he had four drinks.
A roadside breath test produced a positive result and Auld was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station.
While at the police station in custody, he told officers he had consumed eight to 10 schooners of XXXX beer between 2.30pm and 5.20pm, and had not eaten during that period.
His breath analysis returned a reading of 0.138.
Police formed the opinion he was well-affected by alcohol.
Mr Allen convicted Auld on the drink-driving matter, fining him $600 and disqualifying him from driving for six months, with Section 225 93) of the Roads and Transport Act to apply.
