Amer Jalloul, 19, of Arthur Street, Punchbowl, did not appear before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court and the matter was subsequently dealt with in his absence.
Police facts tendered to the court indicated Jalloul tried to enter the jail with two yellow balloons in his mouth that he told corrective services staff contained marijuana and tramadol tablets.
On the charge of possessing a prohibited drug, 1.4grams of cannabis, Jalloul was convicted and fined $200, with Mr Allen ordering the drugs be destroyed. For introducing a small quantity of drug into a detention centre, Jalloul was convicted and fined $600. For possessing and/or attempting to prescribe a restricted substance, Jalloul was convicted and fined $200.
