Good friends Kaylee and Jared wrote the song together and recorded it on Jared’s album East To West.
APRA AMCOS director of NZ operations, Anthony Healy, said Pieces was a fine song writing collaboration.
“Jared and Kaylee have married two elegant voices into a captivating and emotional story, crafting an exceptional song,” he said.
The pair performed the song at the 2014 CMA GlobaLive Concert in Nashville and on many stages throughout Australia and New Zealand to great acclaim.
“I really enjoy working with Jared, and since Pieces we have put together our own show called A Night In Nashville,” Kaylee said.
“It is a true Nashville experience, taking you back through the history of Nashville’s number one hits from the past 40 years.
“We ran the show in Bathurst and complimented the night with the venue owner serving a Nashville-inspired meal. It was a great night of food and country music,” she said.
A second song Firefly, written by Kaylee Bell, Jared Porter and Kaylee Harrison, was announced the winner of the MLT Song Writing Award.
Kaylee’s song Someone Else, which was co-written with Mike Carr, was named runner-up for this award.
Running Outta Time is the fourth single to be lifted from the Kaylee Bell’s Toyota Star Maker album Heart First.
Kaylee said this was one of her favourites from the album.
“It is a song all about being in a relationship that is going nowhere and you need an answer yes or no as to whether it is headed in the right direction. Otherwise you are both just wasting your time,” she said. “It’s a fun, upbeat, melody- driven song that I think many girls can relate to.
“It asks the million dollar question: is he worth hanging on for? Or should I let go and move on?” she said.
Running Outta Time follows the big hit singles Heart First, Little Bit Small Town and Song Of My Summer, and of course the number one, smash hit duet Pieces.
This year Kaylee has also had the opportunity to open a couple of concerts for The McClymonts on the successful Forever Begins Tonight tour, which she said was lots of fun.
Kaylee has started writing her third album and hopes to head to the studio later this year.
