The addition of the People’s Choice categories for Employee of the Year and Favourite Business have been warmly embraced by the nominees.
So many nominations have been received for the Favourite Business award that the nominees have had to be separated into batches for voting purposes.
Among more than 200 nominees in this category is Tommy’s Tex-Mex, located on George Street.
The restaurant has only been open in Bathurst for eight months, but in that time its reputation has grown astronomically.
Run by a small team of professionals, Tommy’s Tex-Mex promotes a laid-back atmosphere that is all about relaxing while enjoying good food.
Owner Tommy Griffiths feels the restaurant’s nomination in the business awards was a clear indication that it was doing the right thing.
“It means a lot,” he said. “It is just nice that people recognise all the hard work we’ve put in.”
Another part of the restaurant’s appeal is their seasoned chef Jeffrey Paguio.
The Sydney-trained chef has clocked up 12 years of experience in commercial kitchens, the past nine spent in Circular Quay, and has cooked professionally overseas.
Mr Griffiths said Mr Paguio can often be found interacting with the diners when he isn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
They hope that people will vote for their restaurant so they can claim one of the treasured trophies.
