Club chief executive officer Danny Dwyer said in previous years the facilities at Mount Panorama had been unable to cater for the high volume of motorhomes looking to secure a spot.
With no other camping accommodation available, the harness racing club is able to offer 111 sites for motorhomes during race week.
Mr Dwyer said the club’s close proximity to Mount Panorama was instrumental in being chosen for additional accommodation.
“It is custom made for what the V8s want to do for the shortage of motorhome camping,” he said.
“There is not a lot of motorhome camping at Mount Panorama.”
The campground is equipped with an onsite restaurant and bar, fully powered sites and a flat asphalt surface that is ideal for motorhomes and caravans.
Mr Dwyer said this was the first time the Harness Racing Club had been in a position to offer camping to racegoers after it opened late last year.
During Race Week, those camping at the club will be able to either walk 15 minutes to the Mount or take advantage of the free shuttle that will be in operation over the weekend of the Bathurst 1000.
According to Mr Dwyer, approximately 50 sites have already been booked, so those looking to camp need to get in quickly.
Accommodation can be secured by visiting the V8 Supercars website as phone bookings will not be accepted.
Sites cost between $650 and $750, depending on the camping area.
